We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Information team, based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office. This is a busy, varied role where you will have the chance to share your knowledge, influence decisions around data collection and set the Commission up for success as it progresses through its data maturity journey.

Reporting to our Chief Data Officer, you'll plan and deliver data analysis activities for a range of technology projects to support the Commission's journey to become an insight-driven organisation. You'll work closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Advisers and Data Integration Engineers to develop and improve the Commission's data platform and related data products. You will be joining a small, high performing team of data specialists who enjoy sharing their knowledge and expertise.

The indicative salary range for this role is $112,970 - $132,906 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

If you have the following skills and attributes, you could make a great Senior Data Analyst:

  • Demonstrated experience working within a project management framework
  • Data Analyst skills, including knowledge of open programming languages such as Python, and consumption of data from a range of sources, including databases, files, and web services
  • Experience with multiple database and data store technologies, including cloud databases such as Snowflake.
  • Experience with CI/CD of data pipelines, including automated testing
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship-management and vendor management skills and experience in training/mentoring others
  • Data Engineering skills, including use of cloud services, ETL / ELT and orchestration tools, and containerisation
