Mō te tūnga | About the role
Join our dedicated Employee Relations service at Oranga Tamariki as a Senior Employee Relations Advisor and play a pivotal role in strengthening and enhancing our employee relations capability. In this proactive and professional position, you'll partner with managers and collaborate with Specialists to manage a diverse range of complex ER cases, providing timely, lawful, and consistent advice.
You will be working directly with people leaders across our organisation while also supporting the wider team, advising on strategies to resolve emerging issues. You will be able to support the resolution of complex employment problems while also sharing information that might help mitigate similar issues in the future reoccurring.
By developing processes that enhance our operational efficiency, you'll contribute to fostering an environment where people development is prioritized, enabling our workforce to thrive. Additionally, you'll ensure compliance with HR policies and legal requirements, helping management understand their ER risks while interpreting policies with consistency and objectivity.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
We are looking for a pragmatic Senior Employment Relations Advisor who focuses on facts and practical solutions over hypotheticals. You will excel at identifying emerging issues early and providing expert advice and support to stakeholders to reach timely and effective resolutions.
Some key requirements of the role include but not limited to
- Trusted senior advisor in all employee relations matters
- Strong ability to develop/articulate logical arguments
- Proven experience in leading/influencing in a comparably complex and sizable environment
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Annual remuneration for this position starts between $125,926 and $139,459 dependant on experience.
