Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our brand-new Waka Kotahi Safety Camera System team as a Senior Enforcement Officer.

In this role you will make complex decisions and resolve disputes in relation to the Safety Camera System activities delivered within the Te Mahau (Customer and Services) business group. This includes managing and supporting senior enforcement activities such as robust decision making in relation to exemptions, escalations, disputes, Ministry of Justice (MOJ) related concerns.

You will support customers with complex safety camera queries over the phone and via email and ensure a seamless customer experience. The role will require you to obtain and maintain an Enforcement Officer warrant.

Hours
The team operates Monday to Friday with rotating shifts between 7.55am - 6pm.

Training
You'll need to be available full time between 8am - 4.30pm, for 4 weeks training starting on Tuesday 21 January 2025.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Sound judgement and robust risk-based decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in resolving conflict, escalations and disputes.
  • Ability to gather and analyse information from a diverse set of sources to understand a problem.
  • Experience in building and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and seek guidance where needed.


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
