Mō te tūnga | About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. In this role you will bring your expertise and specialist knowledge, to support the business to meet their financial accountabilities and to ensure accurate financial reporting. You will assist the Financial Controller to assure that Oranga Tamariki has sound financial, accounting and internal control policies, systems and processes.

 

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

To be considered for the role you must have a recognised CA qualification or equivalent with experience in a Chartered Accounting firm or large complex environment. You will need to have sound technical accounting experience. You will have a curious nature and enjoy investigating issues, understanding the financial impacts and the implications for business units.

Some other key requirements for this role are as follows but not limited to:

  • Experience preparing financial statements and knowledge of CFIS reporting requirements
  • An ability to provide technical advice to business units in relation to accounting requirements
  • Demonstrated communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in plain language both written and verbally
  • A passion for improving business processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • Able to provide accurate and timely advice and guidance to ensure adherence to best practice and policy
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills
  • Experience and expertise in the processes of Government
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Annual remuneration for this position starts between $125,926 and $139,459 dependant on experience.
