Ngā kawenga | About the role
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical accounting expertise to challenging and meaningful work. You will tackle complex financial scenarios, taking ownership of key responsibilities in a dynamic and evolving environment.
In this role, you will be the subject matter expert in specialised areas such as tax queries, preparing financial statements for the annual report, and managing accounting for Public Private Partnerships (PPP). The varied nature of the work ensures a wide range of tasks and responsibilities.
You'll collaborate with external auditors and lead business improvements to enhance financial management practices while strengthening the internal control environment.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for technical and complex accounting work, who is driven to deliver high-quality outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrable competence in financial accounting practices and procedures, including PBE IPSAS.
- Excellent ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships and insights to influence business needs, networking and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach others.
- Proven analytical skills, combining technical expertise with business and commercial acumen to identify and implement smarter ways of working.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $124,758 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $106,045 - $149,710 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
