Are you a seasoned finance professional seeking a challenging 10-month contract opportunity in Wellington? This role offers a unique chance to lead key financial processes and contribute to critical accountability documents within a dynamic organisation. You'll be instrumental in ensuring compliance and efficiency, making a tangible impact during your contract period.

  • Lead and streamline period-end reporting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
  • Spearhead the preparation of financial statements and associated notes for key accountability documents, such as the Annual Report and Statement of Intent.  
  • Oversee payment runs and ensure meticulous review of invoices.
  • Contribute to the organisation's financial responses to Select Committee questions, OIAs, and PQs.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Lead the audit process, acting as the primary liaison with appointed auditors.
  • Mentor and support a Finance Officer, fostering their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with Financial Business Partners to deliver high-quality management accounting services.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Senior qualified accountant (CA/CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior finance role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the public sector environment.
  • Proven ability to adopt a strategic and long-term approach.
  • Ideally, public sector experience, particularly within a Crown entity.
  • Able to commence before the end of the month.
