Job Ad: Senior Financial Accountant
Location: Wellington CBD
Salary: $140,000 per annum
Start Date: Immediate

Are you an experienced Senior Financial Accountant looking for an exciting opportunity in a medium-sized organisation? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our client’s team for a fixed-term contract of 11 months.

Key duties:

  • Lead a number of financial processes such as regular period end reporting (month-end, quarter-end and year-end)
  • Play a key role in delivery of the financial statements and associated notes for key accountability documents, such as the Annual Report and Statement of Intent
  • Process payment run including reviewing invoices to be sent to budget holders
  • Contribute to the agency’s financial response to Select Committee questions, OIAs and PQs
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation of fixed assets in the FMIS and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and policies
  • Manage the Audit process, prepare and provide information for, and engage with the appointed auditors, for audit engagements
  • Manage and support 1 direct report – our Finance Officer
  • Support our Financial Business Partners to deliver high quality management accounting services

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Financial Accountant or in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations
  • Excellent proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A relevant accounting qualification (CA/CPA) is preferred
