Tyreland is an independent owned local business which has been operating in Central Otago for the last 45 years. With branches in Alexandra, Cromwell, Luggate and Wanaka.
We are looking for a person who has 12 months experience in the fleet servicing and who is looking at taking their skills to the next level. Based out of our modern Cromwell store you would also cover Queenstown and Wanaka as required. Not only would you be servicing fleets but also making recommendations to our fleet owners on what products to use. We offer:
Although the position is that of a Fleet Service Person (Tyre Fitter) the person is expected to assist the other workshop staff in all other activities when time permits. The person is also expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime and participate in rostered work.
What we require:
Full time permanent role with 30 hours minimum and standard week of 45 hours per week.
The Standard pay rate is $30 per hour, thereafter the rate is time and half ($45 per hour) to a maximum of 55 hours per week.

- Good understanding of the tyre industry with 12 months of experience
- They need to have a high level of honesty and integrity because they will sometimes be on clients premises unsupervised
- Must have a current driver's licence to operate the service truck
- Must be self-motivated as they will have to work without supervision
- Must have a reasonable mechanical awareness to be able to problem solve and repair equipment on site
- They will need to be prepared to work overtime and go on call when required to maintain the current level of service that is expected from us by our clients.
- Must have a clear understanding of the importance of good customer service to help maintain and increase our client base.
- The applicant needs to have a tidy appearance to keep within the guidelines of our image.
- They need to be reasonable fit to be able to consistently lift tyres in excess of fifty kilograms.
- For the workmanship to be a high standard within the department
- To conform to the health and safety requirements as per the company manual
- To maintain the equipment and tools required to perform the tasks involved and report any deficiencies or concerns
- To ensure that your vehicle is maintained to a high standard by keeping it clean and tidy and report when repairs are necessary.
- To ensure that all work carried out on a vehicle when being serviced is up to the required standard
- To monitor and report on product performance by completing scrap fleet reports and regularly recording mileage and tread depths
- Provide the necessary details to the customer to understand what work has been carried out and any further work the vehicle may require
- To keep the monthly commercial stock to a required level, by producing a monthly stock report and reordering when necessary
- Submit quotes for work within the clear guidelines for maintaining sales and profitability
- The basic function of the job is to sell and service commercial tyres, to maintain and increase sales by offering consistent weekly calls and keeping up to date with product knowledge
- Report to management outlining suggestions for increasing sales and ways to improve profitability or efficiency of the department when requested.
- To assist in the budgeting and planning for the department
Although the position is that of a Fleet Service Person (Tyre Fitter) the person is expected to assist the other workshop staff in all other activities when time permits. The person is also expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime and participate in rostered work.
What we require:
- Good time management skills
- Be a team player
- You will be required to work two Saturday morning a month.
- Be on after hours call.
- Full New Zealand drivers' licence.
- Physically fit as some heavy lifting is required.
