About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join our established and supportive finance team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Finance, senior leaders, and cost centre managers, partnering across the organisation to provide expert financial advice and analysis. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to enable effective decision-making and ensure the Authority's financial objectives are achieved.

Key responsibilities
You will support the organisation through the following:
- Partnering with managers and budget holders to provide financial insights, support effective decision-making, and enhance financial capability
- Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis, to inform the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and Audit and Finance Committee
- Supporting the Head of Finance in identifying, monitoring, and managing financial risks and ensuring compliance with statutory and public sector requirements
- Leading initiatives to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools, while championing continuous improvement and best practices
- Developing and maintaining educational materials and training to upskill managers on financial planning and reporting
Our ideal candidate
You will bring the following:
- Similar advisory or partnering experience
- Public sector and/or industry experience
- A minimum of 7-10 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
- CA qualification, including membership preferred
- Strong knowledge of finance reporting and planning systems
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- The ability to support and develop team members
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
