RobLawMax Recruitment has exclusively partnered with our client who specialises in Power Generation, Heavy Industrial Maintenance and Project Management services focusing on the operation, maintenance, major overhaul and strip down of the rotating equipment. They have a wealth of experience in steam turbine/generator overhauls for the power, dairy, chemical industry in NZ and throughout SE Asia and Australia.

About the role:

As the Senior Mechanical Fitter, you will work part as a team on major overhauls, reporting to the Senior Project Manager and Senior Services Manager. The role will be to service plant by stripping repairing / replacing components and returning plant to a fully serviceable state.

This full time permanent role will pay: $90,000 up to $110,000 per annum depending on your experience. Plus plenty of overtime on top.

Accommodation, food and incidentals paid when working away from the home office based in Hamilton. 40 hours per week

The role involves working on power generators, turbines and other rotating plant and includes (but is not limited to):

  • Liaise with Customers, Staff and Contractors.
  • Major overhaul and strip down and rebuild of the turbines and other the rotating equipment.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace damaged parts, and equipment, returning them to a fully serviceable state.
  • Be able to work with and guide less skilled workers.

The ideal candidate will:

  • A minimum of 5 years power system turbine responsible experience either with geothermal, gas or steam turbines or extensive experience with rotating equipment
  • Mechanical trade qualification.
  • Experience supervising up to 5 staff and 15 contractors during overhauls.
  • Calm, professional temperament with ability to cope in pressured environments, maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues in challenging situations.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial Health and Safety procedures and first aid.
  • Ability to work shifts.
