Mō te roopu - About the team
Our Governance and Ministerial Services Team plays a crucial role in managing Inland Revenue's requests under the Official Information Act, providing timely, expert advice and support to IR and the Minister of Revenue's office, and supporting our executive-level governance system.

Ara Whiwhi Mahi - The opportunity
This role provides the opportunity to create strong relationships across Inland Revenue, problem solve and provide robust advice on technical matters, such as the Official Information Act (OIA) and Parliamentary process. The role requires someone who is resilient and agile who will remain composed in all situations.
As a Senior Ministerial Advisor, you will have the additional responsibilities of playing a mentoring role within the wider Governance and Ministerial Services team and act as a point of contact for urgent queries from the Minister's office. Part of the role includes managing relationships across Inland Revenue, conducting research and ensuring that required timeframes are met.
Mōu - About you
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have the following:
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisational skills, including time management skills
- The ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities and expectations with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to write documents that are clear, concise and in plain English
- The ability to maintain consistently high standards and the ability to QA work
- Experience mentoring and working with others, including distributing work
- Knowledge about the machinery of government and familiarity with Parliamentary protocols and Official Information Act and Privacy Act would be an advantage
