He angitūtanga | About the role

This is your chance to be part of a small, high-performing team in an integral position, supporting the way DOC partners plan, monitor, and deliver on conservation work. You will lead high-value commercial partnerships that contribute to our strategic growth, ensuring they align with organisational objectives and deliver value and impact.

You will work across multiple teams, both internally and externally, to enhance partnership effectiveness. Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including National Partners, government agencies, iwi, community groups and other key partners, will be crucial. You will provide expert advice, influence decision-making, and ensure our organisation operates as an honourable Treaty Partner.

This role focusses on supporting the team to deliver on partnership agreements through relationship management, project management and reporting on all manner of outcomes that will stem from this work. You will provide functional support and best practice advice to support communication and collaborative thinking across staff, partners, governmental agencies, and communities, and work with teams to inform collaborative conservation planning. You will develop tools, systems and services to ensure that DOC partners effectively deliver on conservation work and that their experience working with DOC is positive.    

You will gain exposure to virtually every aspect of the organisation's work, making this a rewarding and engaging role.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in commercial partnership management, commercial negotiations, and stakeholder engagement who is looking to make meaningful impact.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Experience in developing and managing successful commercial partnerships, with an understanding of key drivers and the ability to negotiate value.
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality advice, guidance, and technical support.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management experience and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to assess risks and recommend solutions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a results-driven approach.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and develop collaborative plans.
  • Mentoring or coaching experience to build capability in partnership management.
  • Ability to engage with iwi / hapū / whānau to achieve work aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Understanding of te reo and tikanga Māori or a willingness to develop capability in this area.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Māori-Crown relationship and experience working in partnership with Māori.

The salary range for this position is $92,450 to $116,985 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
