About the Role
We are in search of an experienced Senior Planner to join the team for a parental leave cover. You will be responsible for aligning National Public Health Service (NPHS) Planning to agree to organisational, Ministerial, Government, Board and Public Health priorities. This includes establishing a robust annual business planning process for NPHS that meets the requirements of accountability documents such as the Government Policy Statement, NZ Health plan or other identified Public Health priorities.

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
About you
You are a Senior Planner with relevant skills and experience to hit the ground running. You are confident and can applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development.
- Skills and experience:
- A qualification in an area relevant to planning or comparable experience working at a leadership level.
- Has extensive experience of working as a Planner
- Needs to draw on relevant longer-term experience specific to the job and work demands, acquired over time– at least 3-5 years.
- Experience in public health or a related field
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development, is preferable.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
