'The purpose of this role is to provide technical co-design and expert technical knowledge to deliver solution architecture that meets business needs.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • solid experience in designing cloud data solutions that comply with New Zealand government mandates and adhere to industry best practices and with a specialization in complex data projects.
  • proficiency in Azure data services and Microsoft analytics solutions is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lakehouse Medallion architecture and its application in modern data engineering and data management.
  • proficient in contemporary data engineering and data management techniques. solid experience in design of complex technology solutions and producing and presenting solution architecture designs and technical documentation to architecture governance bodies.
  • solid experience interpreting business needs and translating these into practical designs
  • solid experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders
  • solid experience in the use of multiple modern technology methodologies and frameworks e.g. TOGAF
  • solid experience in modern toolsets and approaches e.g. collaboration, automation, security, cloud
  • solid Azure Datalake platform architecture knowledge and experience required. solid Azure Data Engineering experience required.
  • solid experience in engineering data ETL services.


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
