Service Delivery Manager - Timaru

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a Service Delivery Manager to join our South Canterbury team based in Timaru.  In this role your focus will be on ensuring all products and services “first and last mile” are delivered & picked up, in a manner that meets our service standards and our customers' expectations.

What this really means is that you'll be responsible for leading and managing teams of processing staff, as well as front line service delivery staff including Delivery Agents, Couriers and our Rural Delivery Contractors.

This is a challenging and exciting role, no two days are ever the same, and you'll be involved in any or all of these things, from

  • Regular check-ins with your team
  • Managing team performance and site safety
  • Building internal culture and relationships
  • Using your super IT and Excel skills to provide reporting / analysis
  • Managing rosters and budgets
  • Recruiting and onboarding new teams
  • Being a key point of contact for our customers and dealing with any escalations - the variety is huge! 

Reporting to our Area Service Delivery Manager - Oamaru, this role operates Monday to Friday ideally from 4.00 am to 12.00 pm, however this role needs someone a who is flexible to work a combination of hours including early mornings or late afternoons, as the role requires this to ensure visibility across your teams and their shifts.

You'll be an experienced people leader, with proven experience in developing positive teams, along with the ability to multitask and keep many balls in the air all at once.

You'll combine this with

  • Leadership style that drives a high performing, customer-centric & thriving team culture
  • Customer service and relationship management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budgets, financials and analytical skills
  • The ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation, including presenting to group
  • Being tech savvy - you'll be comfortable using MS Office including Outlook, Teams and Excel in particular

Experience of managing relationships within a contractor environment will stand you in good stead, along with a solid understanding of the logistics industry.
