Job Description
Site Engineer - You MUST be an NZ or AUS citizen.
My client has a lot of remote work on isolated islands in the Pacific, it is very rewarding unusual type work as they self-perform in absolutely every aspect and the remoteness + ocean creates challenges like no other. Everyday is different and can be tough when you are doing it, but every team
has some great stories at the end and the sense of accomplishment is unparalleled in any aspect of the construction industry!
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and agile Site Engineer with no more than 3 years of civil site experience and a passion for marine and coastal protection works. This role involves overseeing daily construction activities, ensuring quality assurance, and managing site operations for various civil engineering projects. While this role comes in underneath the other engineers and supervisors you will be willing to grow and develop your skills to step up and take on more responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage your daily construction activities to ensure quality and productivity targets are met.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Provide technical support to the construction team, including site set-out, as-built drawings, and structural assessments.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate potential risks, maintaining a risk register and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in project reporting, financial management, and claims preparation.
Core Skills Required:
- Degree in Civil Engineering: A degree-level qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
- Marine and Coastal Experience: Proven experience in marine and coastal protection works.
- Structural Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural marine engineering principles.
- Quality Assurance: Experience with quality assurance procedures and site testing protocols.
- Communication and Problem-Solving: Excellent communication skills and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the role.
Working Details:
- FIFO Schedule: The role involves a FIFO schedule of 6 weeks on site followed by 2 weeks off, based back in New Zealand. Travel to and from work site could take up to 3 days, this is fully paid but is not included in your 'on roster'. After the 'induction period' you can change to 4 weeks on 4 weeks off.
- Camp style / compound accommodation, you will have your own space and all food is cooked and provided by the chefs.
- Travel will likely include long hours on open water ships/boats/barges so if you struggle with sea sickness this will not be a good job for you.
- Insurances are all covered.
- Daily rates sit around $700 - $1000 depending on your background and capacity for growth once you get there.
