Job Description

We are currently partnering with a tier-one civil contractor working on a project in Gisborne. We are actively seeking a talented Site Engineer to join their team for a year and contribute to the successful completion of this project.

Position Overview: As a Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of the project in Tairawhiti. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the planning and coordination of construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Conducting thorough site inspections and monitoring the progress of works, proactively identifying, and resolving any technical issues or challenges.
  • Collaborating closely with the project management team, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Preparing accurate project documentation, including progress reports, quality assurance records, and health and safety reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Proven 2+ years of civil experience as a Site Engineer in NZ, ideally within road or bridge construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in utilising construction software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety on-site.
  • Residency in New Zealand or secure working rights - this client is not in a position to support your visa application.
