The Department of General Medicine:

General medicine is a large department with 15 inpatient teams (6 admitting teams per day) and over 50 consultant physicians. A long-standing acute medicine team manages patients at the front door, expediting admission and discharge challenges daily with inpatient teams for more complex patients. Inpatient ward teams are well resourced with one registrar and two house officers.

The clinical medicine encountered on a daily basis is extremely varied in both type and severity not to mention highly varied cultural and socioeconomic factors providing an endless variety of clinical challenges. Alongside a supportive and collegial department, this provides both a professionally and personally rewarding environment.
