We are looking for an experienced Registered Social Worker to join our team at Nelson Allied Health social work team. This role has a community and in-patient focus and is based at Nelson Hospital/Community.
Bio-psychosocial assessments are required. Interventions are offered to support our most vulnerable pregnant women who are facing complex challenges. The focus of the role is supporting women through their pregnancy and for a period after the birth of their baby should it be required. You would work closely with Oranga Tamariki, Family Start, Te Piki Oranga and Lead Maternity Carers and Ward Midwives. The role also provides Pregnancy Options Counselling and Grief and Loss counselling following the loss of a pregnancy or a baby. You will provide the social work support as part of a team of allied health professionals and work closely with all medical and allied health teams.

You will be registered with the NZ Social Workers Registration Board, and work in a collaborative way, delivering client-centered practice from a strength - s perspective. You will ideally have experience working in a health setting and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and bring an understanding of the social determinants of health, and the impact on health and social needs.
Have knowledge/experience of working in a maternity space. A good understanding of the care and protection and the role of Oranga Tamariki and supports available in the community.

Additionally, you will be someone with a good understanding of bi-cultural social work practice.
