Where you’ll be working: Allied Health – Community Social Work
The details: Full-time Permanent - 64 Hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE)

We welcome applications from qualified social workers who are registered with the Social Workers Registration Board of New Zealand and hold a current driver’s licence.
Exciting opportunities for qualified practitioner to join the Community Social Work Team, and undertake full-time (0.8 FTE) permanent position within the team in Hamilton. This position is to cover the area Hamilton, Morrinsville and Cambridge areas. It may be that the position could cover elsewhere within the Waikato region as the Community Social Workers work as a very strong team across the whole of the Waikato area.
The hours are from 800 -1630 but may be negotiated and based in Hamilton.

Our Community Social Work team covers the whole of Waikato region with Rural Hospitals in Thames, Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumarunui. This role would involve using skills to support working in a variety of settings, both in the community and rural hospitals.
The team works within a range of health services in hospital and community-based settings throughout the Waikato district, they report professionally to a manager within our Allied Health Service.
The role could also include delivering social work services in termination of pregnancy clinics within the legislative requirements.
Mōu | About you
- Registered as a social worker with the NZ Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
- A full NZ driver’s license
To apply you will need the following competencies:
- Psycho-social assessment and intervention
- Intimate partner violence screening, assessment and intervention
- Child protection and vulnerable adult assessment and intervention
- Individual and family counselling skills
- Therapeutic social work
- A commitment to bicultural practice
- Knowledge of the emotional and social impacts of changing health status.
- Ability to navigate access to a wide variety of resources and support services
- Case management skills
- Able to establish relationships with local iwi and Maori interest groups.
- Able to work with a diverse population with a wide range of ethnicities
