  • We are looking for someone on a part time basis to work within our acute Speech-language Therapy team at Auckland City Hospital
  • Part time clinical role (2 days per week), on fixed term basis (up to 2 years)

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for a New Zealand registered Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated, supportive and friendly Adult Speech-language Therapy team based at Auckland City Hospital. This is a part time (0.4FTE), fixed term position for a period of up to two years. The position will backfill a current team member who is completing research.

  • Proactively work on a complex caseload delivering high quality evidence based clinical care
  • Assess and manage both communication and swallowing disorders due to a variety of conditions in an acute setting
  • Develop your skills in the use of FEES, and video fluoroscopy
  • Collaborate with team members and other work groups to achieve our service objectives
  • Work on developing positive working relationships with our clients / patients, whānau / family
  • Committed to professional development and continually striving for improved patient care and experience

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelors qualification in Speech Language Therapy or equivalent
  • Registered member of the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA) with current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience of at least 1-2 years working as a Speech-Language Therapist in a hospital setting
  • Experience working with the assessment and management of communication impairment and swallowing disorder including previous exposure to FEES and VFSS
  • An understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Drive, energy and initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • A team player, with the ability to be flexible and adapt, working well in a fast-paced setting

The remuneration for this position is covered by a collective agreement (PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical MECA)

Salary Range: Step 2 - $82, 856.00 to Step 6 - $104, 794.00 (Depending on experience)
