Contract: x 1 Permanent, Full-time, (40 hours per week / 1.0 FTE)
x 1 Permanent, Part-time, (32 hours per week) (0.8 FTE)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking Qualified Sterile Services Technicians or someone interested in becoming a Sterile Services Technician Trainee to join our team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. This role is responsible for the decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments required for our Operating Theatres, Wards and Departments. While preference will be given to qualified and experienced Sterile Services Technicians, we encourage individuals who wish to become a Sterile Services Technician to apply. This is a physical role so the successful applicant will need be fit, have good communication and computer skills, be able to follow instructions and will bring a positive and enthusiastic attitude to our dynamic fun team. Will have the ability to perform to a high standard and meet deadlines. Must be able to work all rotating, rostered shifts across both Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital sites.

The Sterile Services team plays a vital role in patient safety and reducing infection. And it's not simply a matter of washing things, it's a highly qualified job. The department cleans, disinfects, and sterilises reusable medical equipment, from surgical instruments, to flexible scopes and anaesthetic masks used in theatre. The team sterilises a staggering amount - thousands of items a day. The team carries out a range of procedures depending on the instrument, and takes care of the entire process, from initial assessment to reassembling and categorising instruments ready for collection.
Moū - About you
Qualified Sterile Services Technician applicants will have:
- Demonstrated experience in service, quality or process improvements.
- Has achieved a minimum L4 Certificate in Sterilising Technology and has relevant experience.
- Member of NZ Sterile Sciences Association (NZSSA).
- Maintains professional registration with the NZSSA.
