My client is a leading tier 1 civil contractor specializing in major infrastructure projects across New Zealand. Their commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned them as a key player in the civil and infrastructure sector. Currently, they are embarking on a major joint venture project where they are responsible for the construction of two large bridges. Due to an unforeseen relocation they are now seeking a talented Structures Manager to head up the structures team on this project.

Position Overview

As the Structures Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the construction of two large bridges as part of a major 2-year project. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of structural engineering, ensuring the successful delivery of these critical infrastructure components. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of New Zealand’s infrastructure while working with a dynamic and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural engineering team in the planning, design, and construction phases of the project
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of the bridges while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve project objectives
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality assessments to monitor progress and identify potential issues
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex engineering challenges during construction

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in structural engineering and construction management, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects including bridges.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Extensive knowledge of structural design codes, standards, and regulations
  • Experience with project management software and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources to deliver projects on time and within budget
