  • Full time, 6-month fixed term or secondment opportunity based in Aoraki/Mt Cook.

He angitūtanga | About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to lead the Heritage and Visitors, Community/ Visitor Centre and Local Bodies teams to deliver agreed work programmes, providing training, supervision, and support. You'll work alongside your team and senior leadership, collaborating with stakeholders to maximise conservation initiatives.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs)
  • Work planning
  • Weekly ranger and district leadership team meetings
  • Recruitment and induction
  • Ensuring a high operating standard by rangers
  • Team training, coaching and development

Please note: You may be required to work outside of normal hours, as well as participate in an on-call and standby roster to support your team.

Do you have a practical skillset, enjoy leading others, and thrive on problem-solving and thinking on your feet?

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • leadership skills with experience mentoring, coaching, and fostering a collaborative team culture
  • practical skills in areas such as construction, building, maintenance, or plumbing, with the ability to take a hands-on approach when needed
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to manage relationships effectively
  • strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan, monitor, and report on work delivery
  • a strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • computer savvy, with proficiency in Word, Excel, Teams and cloud-based systems
  • a valid NZ driver's license.

Desirable:

  • Experience engaging and working in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua.
