Connecting Māori to spectrum opportunities

Ko wai mātou | About us
For generations Māori have asserted our rights to radio spectrum, leading to significant milestones in the recognition and promotion of Te Reo Māori. In 2022, the Crown recognised Māori interests in the radio spectrum and agreed to establish Tū Ātea.

The Tū Ātea Impact Programme will create new routes to skills, qualifications, jobs, businesses, innovation and entrepreneurship in the telecommunications sector. It supports the acceleration of Māori into high-value jobs, careers and businesses.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
This role is essential to ensuring the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer (CSIO) and the wider impact programme team to expand the Māori talent pool in the telecommunications sector.
The role has two main functions – the primary purpose of this role is to streamline the operational tasks of the CSIO through administrative support, allowing for an enhanced focus on high level strategy and decision making and ensuring the Impact Programme team runs smoothly, including providing administrative support, project coordination, delivery and drafting of communications and diary management. Additionally, the role requires an ability to conduct research, generate white papers and generate reports on the telecommunications and related tech sectors.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
You will have:

  • Strong experience as an Executive Assistant or in an operational support role.
  • Proficiency in te reo ma ngā tikanga, and comfortable operating in a Te Ao Māori driven organisation.
  • An ability to conduct and present high level research.
  • Passion for upskilling young Māori into high skilled employment, particularly towards the telecommunications or technology sectors.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environment in a senior executive setting.
