Varied role supporting a busy team. Be part of delivering a major capital works programme to enable a more sustainable energy future!

Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.
About the team
Our Cost Estimation Team in Grid Development delivers an infrastructure project estimation service to support the investigation and delivery of Transmission Grid capital projects and volumetric maintenance works. Cost Estimation is the process of forecasting the financial and other resources needed to complete a project within a defined scope. This includes maintenance of the cost estimation data base and estimation processes ensuring project estimation accuracy.
The team supports over 50 project managers and engineers nationally through the preparation, development, and review of estimates and analysis of tenders and project outturn costs. The team provides historic estimation accuracy information to support reporting requirements to the Commerce Commission.
About the opportunity

- Project and programme cost estimation resource requisition coordination and reporting (in excel, Power BI, and using SharePoint planner functionality).
- Single item (building block) review coordination and reporting. Our current set of building block rates are built up to be an average of "like for like" replacements, for example, swapping an old circuit breaker for a new one.
- Quantity Surveyor contractor and supplier relationship management.
- Contractual and team email inbox management.
- Continuous improvement initiatives, including a system replacement project.
You will engage with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the cost estimation services help make sure Transpower has accurate cost estimations for all pricing of capital works by ensuring a consistent and robust cost estimation process is in place.
You'll enjoy ongoing learning and career development and get a real sense of what it takes to deliver infrastructure projects at the heart of the electricity industry. You'll learn how the cost estimation team contributes to the management over $5B of nationally critical assets.
What will you bring?
Proactivity, pace, and previous experience working in a project or programme coordinator role! You'll be known as highly organised, flexible, and calm under pressure.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
