TEAM LEADER CRYPTOGRAPHIC ENGINEERING

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki to detect and disrupt high-impact cyber threats for nationally significant organisations.

The role
This role leads a team of four engineers. You will be joining a healthy and supportive team culture, which you will have the opportunity to build on to support and grow your staff.
The team Leader Cryptographic Engineering is responsible for advice on all facets of cryptographic engineering and for the operation of a cryptographic helpdesk service which supports end users across Government and helps to keep our information & our frontline safe within Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas.
The appointment range for this position is $142,093 - $151,566.

Who we're looking for
You will ideally be an experienced people leader with 3-5 years of technical engineering leadership under your belt. Along with this, we expect:
- Strength in one or more of the following:
- Network design for compartmented and secure data
- Enterprise system design and implementation
- Cryptographic hardware operation, configuration and maintenance
- High assurance software design in Java
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers and stakeholders
Before you apply
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15-year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
