Mō te tūnga | About the role
Ward A7/Children - s High Care comprises of a 24-bed ward and 8 bed high dependency unit. Ward A7 is a medical specialties and infant surgery ward. Children - s High Care caters for infants, children and young people from every specialty area who need a higher level of monitoring. Our team works across both these areas and full orientation is provided for our new staff.
Ward A7/Children - s High Care are part of our new Waipapa hospital building, on the edge of the picturesque Hagley Park. We are proud of our new facility and would welcome the opportunity to share this with you.
A Ward Clerk is an integral part of our team, and we are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to use their initiative.

Administration and Clerical Pay Equity - Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- General clerical and administrative tasks
- Entering information onto the patient management system
- Answering phones and greeting parents and their families
- Delivering great customer service
- Maintaining Nursing roster information on Microster
- Maintain accurate filing of clinical notes and patient files
- Coordinate and maintain Ward statistics data
- Transport arrangements for certain patients
You will be well accustomed to working within a fast-paced environment and prioritising your tasks continuously as your day evolves.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to relate to parents, their whānau and Te Whatu Ora Health NZ staff
- Attention to detail
- Organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Experience using a Patient Management System (desirable)
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Able to pick up and use new systems and technology
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
