About the Role

We currently have an opening in our team for 2 Registered Nurses with a passion for Mental Health Nursing. In these 2 part time roles, it will be combined with a 0.5 FTE case managing role and you will be working to area specific rosters.

You will coordinate the people, systems and resources, through a clinical/managerial partnership approach, to ensure service delivery is efficient and effective, and to contribute to the supervision and coaching of team members towards sector integration and recover focused care.

About the Service

Whangarei Acute Spectrum Specialist Services (W.A.S.S.S.) is a group of community-based teams that provide acute specialist assessment and treatment for new and existing clients within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau Mental Health and Addictions service.

About you

Our preferred applicant has:

  • Comprehensive Nurse Registration and a current practicing certificate
  • Two years' experience in acute and/or kaupapa led community mental health practice working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness in our community
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer or be willing to work towards the same
  • Proven ability to communicate well with tāngata whaiora, their whānau and colleagues, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing 
  • A current drivers licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing personal and professional development
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
